If you are willing to drive a few minutes out of town, you will find some of the most famous beaches in the entire Šibenik archipelago.
Slanica Beach (Murter Island — 15 mins away)
True sandy beaches are rare in Croatia, which makes Slanica wildly popular. Located on the nearby island of Murter (connected by a bridge at Tisno), this beach looks out directly toward the Kornati Islands.
The Vibe: High-energy, tropical, and bustling.
Perks: The sea floor is pure, soft sand, and the water stays waist-deep for a long distance, reflecting a brilliant turquoise colour. It features a water slide, beach volleyball, jet-ski rentals, and numerous bars.
Pro Tip: It gets incredibly crowded in July and August; arrive before 9:00 AM to secure a spot.
Plava Plaža / Blue Beach (Vodice — 5 mins away)
Located right next door in Vodice, this massive beach stretches for several kilometres and holds a "Blue Flag" certification for its water clarity and safety.
The Vibe: Resort-style with endless activities.
Perks: A mix of pebbles, sand, and paved sections. It is heavily shaded by pine trees and packed with amenities, from inflatable water parks for kids to lively cocktail beach clubs for adults.
Podvrške Beach (Murter Island — 17 mins away)
For something that feels a bit more untouched than Slanica, seek out Podvrške. Hidden behind a pine-covered peninsula, it's a local favourite.
The Vibe: A laid-back, Caribbean-like lagoon.
Perks: It features a brilliant white pebble and sand bottom that creates shimmering, crystal-clear water. A long stone jetty juts out into the sea, which locals love jumping off of. There is a small beach bar nestled in the trees for cold drinks.
Beach-Hopper's Tip: If you want absolute seclusion, take the coastal walking paths stretching west beyond Zamalin Beach toward Sovlje. The coastline here is dotted with tiny, unnamed rocky inlets where you can easily find a private spot to swim all by yourself.
